The Slovenian military was formed in 1991 during the breakup of Yugoslavia. During their first decade they mostly used gear based directly off Yugoslav and Serbian army designs. 

M91 Oakleaf is based on the Yugoslav M87 small Oakleaf pattern. The main difference between the two is the use of different colors on the Slovene variation.
